  • Regular Meetings:The ICC must convene at least once in a every six months.

Functions

  1. Preventive Measures:
    • Conduct awareness programs and workshops on gender sensitivity and sexual harassment.
    • Display the UGC regulations and guidelines prominently within the institution.
    • Disseminate information about complaint procedures and rights under the Act.
  2. Redressal Mechanism:
    • Receive and address complaints of sexual harassment confidentially and impartially.
    • Ensure time-bound inquiry and resolution as per UGC and legal guidelines.
    • Recommend appropriate actions against the respondent if the complaint is upheld.
  3. Advisory Role:
    • Suggest measures to the institution's management for the prevention of sexual harassment.
    • Assist in the framing of institutional policies to promote a harassment-free environment.
  4. Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Maintain records of complaints, inquiries, and actions taken while ensuring confidentiality.
    • Submit annual reports to the governing body and higher authorities about the number of cases handled, outcomes, and measures taken.
  5. Counseling and Support:
    • Provide counseling and emotional support to the aggrieved party.
    • Liaise with external agencies, if required, for legal assistance or rehabilitation.
